alva shortlisted for MBA Entrepreneurship Award

Alva’s innovative way of analysing reputations has been recognised by thought leaders in business.

Alva has been shortlisted for the 2011 Association of MBAs Entrepreneurship Award, with the winner to be announced at the Annual Gala Dinner of the Association in London on 19 October.

The Association of MBAs is the international impartial authority on postgraduate business education, which the accreditation service is the global standard for all MBA, DBA and MBM programmes in more than 70 countries.

The judges will select a winner from four finalists after they take part in a ‘dragon’s den’ presentation and will be presented at the Gala Dinner with the award in front of a prestigious gathering of business leaders, international deans and directors from worldwide accredited business schools, distinguished MBA alumni and journalists.

The company was founded by Cass MBA alumni Alberto Lopez-Valenzuela and Richard Fleming and was initially incubated within the Peter Cullum Centre of Entrepreneurship at Cass. The company represents the first investment by the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund.

Alva’s services equip organisations with the analysis tools to manage reputation and reputational risk in the same way as any other valuable business asset. Current services inform organisations of the emerging reputational risks in their sector through a near real-time dashboard launched in April this year, called the Alva Reputation Index. This enables, for the first time, businesses and the general public to analyse the value of a good reputation and the cost of a bad one by monitoring the reputational score of the industry’s leading companies.

Nick Badman, Chair of the Centre for Entrepreneurship at Cass, says: “We are thrilled that Alva has been shortlisted for the Association of MBAs Entrepreneurship Award and we hope this will be one of many successes for this new business which we have been proud to support and finance through our incubation facility. Good luck to Alberto and the rest of his team.”

Alva Chief Executive, Alberto Lopez says; “I’m delighted to be in with a chance in this prestigious global competition. Alva has gone from strength to strength in the past twelve months winning clients like Anglo American, AOL Europe, National Grid and TNT. This proves that analysing reputations the Alva way is a market-leading and valuable concept for business. I am grateful to the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund for their support and input into the development of Alva”.
