The World Energy Council’s definition of Energy sustainability is based on the balancing of three core elements, Energy – Security, Sustainability and Affordability (or Equity). In order to understand more about this Trilemma, alva has initiated a series of three discussions, focusing on each of these concerns.
Earlier this month, and in conjunction with Hanover, we hosted a live roundtable around the first issue in the series: Affordability. We chose to open with this rather timely topic, as it is generating the most column inches and political rhetoric at the moment – and consequently is front of mind for most stakeholder groups.
To understand more about stakeholder perceptions around affordability, alva reviewed UK data from the last three years, across all sources, pertaining to the “Big 6” energy suppliers, 6 of the biggest challengers in the retail space and some network operators.
The roundtable was followed up with a webinar on Nov. 9, which further reviewed the results of our analysis.
