ESG Intelligence – Fashion Retailers – Q1 2021

M&S (+63) leads alva’s ESG index for the fashion sector with the launch of new sustainability standards for denim, using kinder dyes and 86% less water than industry average.

Four of the top five companies focus on both inclusion and community relations initiatives, with Adidas’ ‘Watch Us Move’ programme, supporting women from all walks of life, helping them rank 2nd in the index.

Labour Practices and safety concerns impact half the sector, with Boohoo (-48) and Primark (-52) especially badly affected.
