GSK, and indeed the pharmaceutical sector, has an emerging reputational challenge – manufacturing products designed to make it easier for people to breathe, but doing so with planet-polluting ingredients. Environmental sustainability Initiatives being used by GSK’s sector peers to promote their ESG credentials – and so reduce reputational risk – offer some inspiration to counter the threat. Pfizer, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Novo Nordisk, and AstraZeneca UK have all launched initiatives such as net zero targets, renewable electricity targets, recycling schemes and tree planting programmes.
