How consumer companies are embracing the metaverse

Penta Intelligence’s analysis looks at consumer sector companies that are active in the metaverse and the prominence of their business activity.

This report examines the impact that interacting with the metaverse has had on 11 companies over a six-month period.

Key findings of the report are:

  • An article reporting that Nike sold an NFT sneaker for $134,000 allowed the company to broadcast their position of being at the forefront of the metaverse.
  • Platform Decentraland gains high visibility after Samsung opens a virtual version of its New York City flagship store, “837X”, selling virtual wearables and NFTs.
  • The coverage of metaverse-related issues is generally positive with discussion around NFTs and virtual locations being the most impactful content.
  • Discussions around virtual locations and NFTs have higher and more sustained visibility than virtual products.
